Fast Black

Turn on the news, pick up a paper and all you'll see and hear is doom and gloom.

Good news doesn't make the headlines. It's just not sensational enough.

But it's not all bad out there.

Last week my 85 year old grandmother had an operation to have a finger removed. I know sounds a bit drastic, but it was the result of her reluctance to attend hospital after a fall a couple of years ago.

A few days ago she could take the cabin fever no longer and called a cab to drop her 'down the street'.

Tea n cake and two bags of shopping later she calls for a lift home. Now Strathaven aint like the metropolis of East Kilbride from where she came. Round here you need to know a week from Wednesday that you'll need a cab.

The lady on the phone politely advises her that 'yes Mrs Anderson, you can have a car at 7pm' a mere 3 and a quarter hours away!!

A young couple over hear her plight and come to her rescue to offer her a lift home. She doesn't know them and they don't know her, but a sense of common decency wouldn't allow them to see her high and dry.

I'd like to be able to thank them but there are probably a few Helen and Jimmy's in Strathaven.

There's more good news..... It's Friday tomorrow.

And tomorrow it will mostly be doing this.........

Sitting on a train heading South with a bowl of pasta, a cheeky wee bottle of wine and a girly mag.

Enjoy the weekend :-)

That's a tiny wee bottle of wine. G'wan, splash out a wee bit extra this time and up it to 750mls.

Have to agree with Brian. A bottle like that will only tease your taste buds and leave you with a terrible longing for more. ;-)

Guilty of spreading the gloomy word.
People are people that won't change good and bad mostly a bit of both.
There is not much chance of having a complete picture due to the control and centralisation of the news media.
Stop off in MK and I will top you up, that is a small bottle.
Here are two examples have you heard anything about this I expect not wonder why our leaders are living in their own upper middle class elite bubble we don't deserve the truth.
(this story has been around for more than 10 years)
(this was reported 4 days ago here

Update on the Silver market fix whistle blower.
Good = us
Bad = them
Not seen in the main stream media - at all...
Perhaps they won't kill him if we all know.
On March 26th while out shopping with his wife, Mr. Maguire's car was hit by a car careening out of a side road. The driver of the vehicle then tried to escape. When a pedestrian eye-witness attempted to block the driver's escape he accelerated at him and would have hit him had the pedestrian not jumped out of the way. The car then hit two other cars in escaping. The driver was apprehended by the police after police helicopters were called in and following a high speed chase.

Andrew and his wife were hospitalized with minor injuries. They were discharged from hospital today and should make a full recovery.
